UFC Qatar this past weekend was the promotions first trip to the country, and the card did not disappoint. Here are my 3 key takeaways…

#1 – Arman Tsarukyan firmly established himself as he number 1 contender in the lightweight division. A dominant submission victory over the alawys dangerous Dan Hooker, puts him in the immediate conversation for a title shot versus the current champ Ilia Topuria.

#2- The Welterweight Division is as dangerous as its ever been as we saw Ian Garry defeat Belal Muhammed via unanimous decision in typical Garry fashion. The question remains if Garry will catapult into the #1 contender spot to face newly crowned champ Islam Makhachev or if another matchup for the number one spot awaits him. Perhaps Michael Morales would like a word?

#3 – UFC Qatar showed just how deep the UFC roster has become as we saw a very high level display of mixed martial arts across all weight classes, with many of the fights ending in knockout or by submission. This was a huge leap for the UFC in expanding their global reach, and what a card to do it with.
